​   And as the tale goes, the new XK sports car went on to set a production car speed record of 120mph, thus giving it its name.
  By the time this 1953 XK120 was made Jaguar had won LeMans, and would do so again that year.
  As you'll notice the speedometer reflects the racing success enjoyed and foreseen by Autosport magazine after the first LeMans victory, "The result will raise British prestige to an undreamed-of height."
   How so? It foretells the investment being made in a new XK sports car that incorporates all the lessons learned at LeMans: the XK140.
