There's a delightful symmetry to this XK120 in the metallic copper.

In the absence of the finished XK sedan for the London show stand of 1948, a little sports car was cobbled together to debut the new twin cam engine.
In an England that was still under ration control, there was no expectation the government would allocate the steel for this little sports car, so it was presented merely as a show car.
In a Britain where the economy was being export driven for hard currency, the government officials in attendance at the London show happened to notice all the interest for international distributorships the sports car was generating.
Jaguar was immediately, and unexpectedly, given the steel allocation for its production.
