The 1981 Eagle 8100
Here we move ahead a decade into the Aero era. Dan wanted to advance the current trend of ground effects. To do this he had John Ward examine the possibilities of an entirely new direction. In examining the shape of the top surface of an F-15 wing he saw the possibilities to take ground effects one step further with their Boundary Layer Adhesion Technology. In combination with the twin vortex body shape, the exhaust was used to enhance the ground effects. A significant element in current F1 Aero.
This also stands as the last successful normally exasperated pushrod engine, which was also developed in house.
And in the traditions of Gordon Murray and Chapman of the period, targeted rule changes sent it prematurely to the history books the following season.
